Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant or Environmentally Advantaged Lubricant (EAL)

Glossary Term

Definition and Purpose

Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) are lubricants that meet specific regulatory and application requirements regarding toxicity, biodegradability, bioaccumulation, and sometimes renewable content. They are designed to minimize environmental impact, particularly in sensitive ecosystems, and are often mandated in applications where lubricant leakage or spillage could harm the environment.
